Position Title: Summer Event Director

Purpose: To organize, direct and coordinate all aspects of operating a summer event.

Accountable to: Council Program Specialist

Responsibility/Accountability:

• Must attend planning meetings with Program Specialist.
• Assumes overall responsibility for event operations, health and welfare of campers and staff.
• Must be First/Aid CPR trained and hold current certification
• Plans the overall program, using the Girl Scout program goals and standards.
• Supervises staff; prepares work assignments; and conducts staff meetings as needed.
• Makes arrangements with Program Specialist to purchase supplies for event use.
• Reviews campers’ registrations and maintains campers’ files.
• Sees that health and safety standards are maintained and notifies parents of illness or injury of their camper. Notifies council office as soon as appropriate.
• Makes adjustments as needed in camp management, operations, government, program plans and handles emergency situations.
• Within two weeks of camps close, completes and turns in reports including work reviews, girls surveys, event summary, attendance records, accident reports, itemized financial report, inventories, recommendations, first aid log, etc.
• Makes an appointment with Program Specialist for Director position review.
• Show leadership by making a Friends Campaign pledge/contribution.

Qualifications:
• Belief in the aims and purpose of the Girl Scout organization and is willing to subscribe to the principals expressed in the Law and Promise.
• Is a registered Girl Scout and is at least twenty-one years of age.
• Has interest and some knowledge and skill in a variety of program areas.
• Shows maturity and good judgment.
• Has strong leadership ability.
• Is able to supervise other adults and guide their work.
• Able to make concise written and verbal reports.
