Science in the Making!

From Betsy- a chaperone

We started out our day in three separate field groups studying either stream ecology, wildlife or fire ecology. We had a terrific day learning about the water species in the local rivers and streams, the large mammals and their habits, or the ways that fire helps the ecology of this area. Then in the afternoon, so no one would miss out on what the other groups learned, we shared our knowledge through presentations.

After dinner, we took a trip to Oxbow Bend, a beautiful area in Grand Teton National Park where the river is wide and to which wildlife loves to come. We saw beaver, otter, great blue heron, ducks, and a white pelican that landed right in front of us on the water. We made flags to represent our feelings about nature and this special place.

I HAVING A GREAT TIME! I am so happy to be here - there are views all around us that are amazing. Last night we went to Oxbow Bend. I saw a eagle andit was beautiful. I didn’t get a picture because it was flying to the mountains. It was so exciting because that was the first eagle I have seen beside pictures. We went on a hike to coyote rock it was so beautiful.
