ADULT VOLUNTEER Position
Descriptions:
Day Camp is filled with an enthusiastic volunteer staff which is
made up of Unit Leaders and Specialists.
The Units consist of Daisies,
Brownies, Juniors, Counselors/PA, Boys, and Pixies(children under the age of
5). The Specialists consist of Arts and Crafts, outdoor skills, First
Aider, Small Watercraft, Life Guard, Archery, Last Day Event and Overnight Coordinators.
Unit Leaders are
responsible for 10-12 girls.. They guide them to the various Special
stations throughout the day and week. Each unit is made up of same aged
girls with 2 unit leaders. The
units will make swaps and prepare a skit for the last day.
The Program Aide/Counselor Corrdinator is responsible for the teenage
counselors who assist the unit leaders and specialists. This
volunteer will interview and set expectations for the counselors, assign them
to various positions, and plan for an overnight on Saturday.
The Pixie and Boys Unit Leaders will be responsible for the younger
children and the boys of the day camp staff. These leaders will be given
a schedule of events designed for them. Children in this unit are given special
attention since they are not at day camp by choice…
The Outdoor Skill
Specialist will assist our very experienced and knowledgeable outdoor
skills leader in preparing campfires, working with knives, etc. BOS
training is required for this position.
The Small Watercraft
and Archery Specialists will
coordinate and implement canoe/archery activities for all the Units throughout
the week.
The Crafts Specialist will
implement appropriate craft activities for all the units in coordination with the theme.
Last Day Event Specialist
will coordinate the prepared lunch, skits and surprise event for the last day
of camp.
