Girl Scout Cookie
Program Activity: DARE TO SHARE!
The 2007-2008 Girl Scout Cookie Program activity is a CHALLENGE
to all Girl Scout cookie entrepreneurs to share their awesome experiences
with other Girl Scouts, their councils and Girl Scouts across the
country. We're looking for creative ways to spread the word that
we have the most successful entrepreneurial activity for girls in
grades 1–12 in the world. Last year girls sold over 10 billion
boxes of Girl Scout cookies. By achieving individual and team learning
and sales goals, girls not only help their councils provide Girl
Scouting in their community, but they also visit places they have
never been before, help their communities with service projects,
and have a lot of fun in the process.
So here's our challenge to girls in grades 1–5 and girls
in grades 6–12: Dare to Share! Help us spread the word by
sharing your successes.
Girls in grades 1–5: Create a poster or submit
a picture in one or more of three categories: Discover, Connect,
or Take Action.
Girls in grades 6–12: Record and share your
journey to leadership success in a way that illustrates what you've
learned in the process of discovering, connecting, and taking action.

Here's How It Works
This year, to earn the National Girl Scout Cookie Activity Pin,
we're challenging girls to "Dare to Share" their best
Girl Scout Cookie Program practices creatively through pictures
and stories. And, as girls "Dare to Share," Girl Scout
councils and Girl Scouts of the USA will use girls' insights and
illustrations in a number of ways: for example, local displays,
our Girl Scout national meetings, council and national training
events, and the development of new program resources.
While the downloads provide a blueprint for girls, the adult tips
focus on how to work with girls. Adults act as coaches who help
girls develop leadership skills by using these procedures:
Girl-Led—All activities are girl-driven.
Learning by Doing—Girls are the active participants
in the Girl Scout Cookie activities and take time to reflect on
what they are learning.
Cooperative Learning—Girls act together with
shared goals for the benefit of the group.
The 2007-2008 Girl Scout Cookie Program activity Dare to Share!
gives girls just a taste of the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
The cookie activity is an important opportunity to act on the new
mission statement—Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence,
and character, who make the world a better place.
