Brownie
Girl Scouts
Brownie
Girl Scouts were the first age level established in the
Girl Scout program. Their name comes from the legendary
stories of old England where little brownie elves were helpers.
Brownie
Girl Scouts are in grades 1-3. A minimum of two adults leads
each troop. Brownie Girl Scouts may earn recognitions called
"Try-Its." A girl earns a "Try-It" by
trying out new things she has learned about a certain subject.
Girls participate in community service projects and in a
form of democratic self-government called a "Brownie
Ring" where girls and adults make shared decisions.
Brownie
Girl Scouts go on field trips and camp out for fun and education.
Their adventures may take them either 10 minutes from their
hometown or two hours; some trips may be overnight.
Brownie
Girl Scouts participate in the annual cookie
sale and calendar/QSP sale.
Funds earned from these projects support the activities
of the troop.
